Summer 2025 Leadership Course

This condensed program provides students with hands-on leadership experience while making a meaningful impact in animal rescue.

This course is open to rising 8th- 12th graders. Younger students may apply and will be considered on a case-by-case basis but will be required to submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher. Spots are limited, so don’t wait to apply! Completing this form lets us know you're interested, but it doesn’t guarantee a spot—once approved, we’ll reach out to share the great news. Wednesdays Starting June 11th- July 16th

10:15 AM - 12:15 PM

 

Week 1: Foundations of Leadership & Animal Advocacy

  • Introduction to Team GRETA’s mission and goals.

  • Leadership training: Communication, teamwork, and decision-making.

  • Overview of animal welfare issues in the community.

  • Brainstorming and selecting team projects (e.g., fundraising, adoption drives).

    Week 2: Project Planning & Community Engagement

  • Teams develop action plans with goals, timelines, and roles.

  • Workshop on event planning.

  • Outreach strategies: Engaging the community and local shelters.

  • Social media and advocacy training for awareness campaigns.

    Week 3: Hands-On Volunteerism & Leadership in Action

  • Partnering with businesses, schools, or churches for support.

  • Teams refine and promote their awareness campaigns.

  • Midpoint check-in: Evaluating progress and making necessary adjustments.

    Week 4: Project Execution

  • Execution of project

  • Leadership training: Public speaking and engaging stakeholders.

  • Leadership focus: Managing challenges and problem-solving in real time.

    Week 5: Showcasing Success & Reflection

  • Finalizing projects and measuring impact.

  • Prepare reports for future replication

  • Leadership workshop: Lessons learned

    Week 6: Impact & Expansion

  • Teams present their initiatives to the community partners.

  • Leadership training: Applying skills beyond the program

  • Teams refine and promote their awareness campaigns.

What skills will students gain?

    Students will oversee the execution of a project that benefits their local community.

    Students will research challenges around animal welfare in their community and create a project that addresses those challenges.

    Students will work with other non-profits and local businesses to pull resources to complete their project.

    Students will be working in teams through all steps of their project.

    Leadership skills are integrated into every session. Students will practice servant leadership and develop confidence, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities while making a real impact in their community.

    All session hours can be logged as volunteer hours. This is a great opportunity to start building a resume.
